Hello Budapest

After living in different cities in different countries and experiencing different cultures and environments eventually I moved to Budapest in Hungary, after a long marathon managed to get a work permit and now can focus on my dream job. There are some reasons that I chose this city, One of them is I have family here and also I traveled here before a lot and fell in love with the city, and while I was in the Hague and during the pandemic and living in a tiny room in a small flat shared with other flatmates and staring at the monitor for long hours, and panicking to go out because the virus, I decided it is better to live close to family members. So I moved to Budapest and I met lovely people and I am enjoying it. By looking at my journey in the past two years, I started it individually with a blog and I named it rezgamedev, now it calls REZGAMEDEV KFT, KFT stands for LLC, and at the moment we are making some prototypes that will announce later, but for now we started a clothing campaig...

How I got the Visa for Netherlands

Search Year Visa or Orientation Year visa or Zoekjaar hoogopgeleiden

After I graduated, I found that the Netherlands provides a visa that graduates can apply for it, the length of the visa is one year, and it is not extendable but gives the opportunity to find a job or start a business and apply for other visas. Graduates from the Netherlands can apply for it if they finished their bachelor’s degree or higher degrees, and graduates from universities from outside of the Netherlands can apply if they are graduated from their master’s degree or PhD, and their University has to be on top 200 lists. Here is the link to the IND website about this visa:

IND Website

Because I graduated from outside of the Netherlands, I explain all the processes that I went through down below.

Applicants from overseas are in two groups the one that they need MVV and the one that they do not. It basically means that if you can travel to the Netherlands without the visa and you can stay up to 90 days, you do not need MVV, if you need a visa then you need to get the MVV, on the immigration website it shows which nationality needs and which don’t.

Immigration office for the Netherlands called IND. First, need to get an appointment from the embassy for the MVV, you need to fill the MVV form and take a passport photo and bring passport to the embassy. At this session, they will open a profile for you in the IND, then you have two weeks to pay the fees and you should send the required documents directly to IND by yourself. The whole process for me took 90 days.

Documents and how to send them:

The main document is your degree but first, your degree needs to be evaluated by IcDW ( Evaluation Center) inside the Netherlands, which has a tricky process.

Evaluation:

My degree is in English, so I was lucky that I did not need to translate it. You can download the evaluation form from this link:

IcDW Evaluation form

For filling the form, you need to mention all the schools you went from elementary school until your university. We also need to provide the translated versions of the degrees and grades. In my country, I had a high school degree with grades and a pre-university degree and grades then Undergrads degree with grades and MSc degree with the grades.

The evaluation has two types of applications, the Normal one which is 148.83 Euros that takes 1 month and the Urgent application that takes 2 weeks to process and it costs 212.96 Euros. I chose the Urgent one. Payment is based on the bank transfer and it does not have an online payment system on the website. So, have to pay the payment and send the payment details with the other documents to the IcDW.

How to send the documents to IcDW?

You do not need to send the original documents; you just need to send a copy of it. You can either send it by post or email. I sent it with post and my friend she sent it by email. After they received the documents and the payment details, they sent me a confirmation email with a reference number. Then they sent me another email that said my application is complete and they sent it to the evaluator. After this email, I received the Evaluation letter by post after two weeks. One big stressful issue was here that my friend experienced it. IcDW uses the normal post, if you are living outside of Europe it takes ages to receive the evaluation letter. I used one of my family member’s addresses in Europe and she received the letter in two weeks. My friend used her own address and she was living in China, and they said it will take 2 to 4 weeks to receive the letter by post in China. After 1 and a half months, she did not receive the letter so she contacted the IcDW and she changed the address to the UK and they sent a new letter there and her friend managed to collect it. So, if you have friends living in Europe or the UK use their address.

Now after receiving the Evaluation letter lets look at the other documents we need for IND:

After I went to the embassy to open the profile, they provided me the forms that I should fill with payment details. Also, they provide application number and V-number, The payment must be made directly to IND account, so like Evaluation has to make a bank transfer to IND account and IND do not provide an online payment system as well. The fee was about 171 Euros but now it seems it is 174 Euros.

University has to be on top 200 rankings of these websites if your University is in one of them have to take a screenshot and put that in the documents.

I posted the copy of the documents and my parcel got stuck somewhere and I sent the documents by email and I did not receive any confirmation at all, a day later I sent an email again and they confirmed my payment and my documents and said my documents are complete and in 90 days they will announce their decision by email.

After almost 90 days I received an email from IND that told me that my application been approved and I need to go to the embassy and collect the visa sticker and announce to them my entry date to the Netherlands that they print the residency card and visa starts from the entry date.

I booked an appointment for MVV to collect the sticker and I brought my birth certificate to the embassy to legalize it, they said I need to get another appointment for legalization because of that I had two more extra flights. For registration in the Netherlands, they ask to translate the Birth Certificate and legalize it with the local embassy in the home country, it is different for each nationality but for me, I had to do it in the Netherlands embassy in my country.

After all these efforts, eventually, I got the visa and moved to the Netherlands, later I will post about registration and other things that might help.

Estonian E residency

During the lockdown while everyone started working from home, Estonian E residency and digital nomad lifestyle started to pop up, I said well let’s give it a try and see how it works. From the link below can apply for an Estonian E residency card. https://e-resident.gov.ee/become-an-e-resident/ it requires some documents such as a Passport, some details such as why you are interested to apply for this card, and a proper photo with their standards and payment of 120 euros. Also have to choose a pickup location, which I found out it is not available in some countries. The process in total was smooth and after 3 weeks I received an email to go and collect my card from the embassy, while I was living in the Hague, the embassy was close to me and I made an appointment and at the embassy, they collected my fingerprints and it was ready. What can we do with this E Residency? In simple words, if you are interested to have a company inside Europe, with this E Residency card yo...

Experience of releasing my first mobile game

I am writing this blog after months of staying home because of Covid-19, I hope everyone is safe. So this pandemic started and I kept applying for jobs and writing cover letter and started enjoying playing PS4, then in the meanwhile, I started to think about trying to make a 2d game. Here are what I experienced: First I decided to make a free game that uses ads inside of it, and release it for Google Play Store, designing a game level and developing it was one challenge and making the UI system and Menu and other things was another big challenge. So I decided to make 8 levels for this game and release the other levels in different updates, I made the game really simple that it just uses the right and left button and challenges the player to remember the paths and by repeating can find the way to finish the level. Then the other challenge was how to place the ads inside the game, I use Google Admob, and placed banner ads in every level and Interstitial ads at the end of ...

Banking experience in the Netherlands

Having a bank account is one of the essentials for wherever the world you are living and it is the same in the Netherlands, but opening a bank account in the Netherlands if you just arrived is not easy. Here is what I experienced: First, when you arrive in the Netherlands you have to know that if you are not in Amsterdam, most of the shops do not accept MasterCards and Visa Cards, They just accept V Pay or Maestro cards. So, you have to go to the ATM all the time and do shopping in cash, which is so inconvenient. The Netherlands has some banks the most common ones are ING and ABN Ambro and Rabobank. I use ING, and to be honest it is so inconvenient especially for online shopping. For online shopping, you have to use IDEAL which is a third-party app that makes it possible to shop with your bank account, and mostly online shops inside the Netherlands have that, so if you want to shop from a platform outside of the Holland you would have a problem because most of them ...
